| From the alarm to the invoice |
| |
| In the event of an accident or serious
illness in Switzerland, anyone can ask Rega for assistance at any
time of the day or night by calling its emergency number 1414 (within
Switzerland) or via emergency radio (emergency channel 161.300 MHz). |
| |
| In order to be able to call out the nearest available
helicopter, the Operations Centre requires various information.
|
| |
| Based on the location and the diagnosis,
the Operations Centre alerts the nearest helicopter base. With
rescue missions in mountainous regions, a specialist from the Swiss
Alpine Club is called out; with traffic accidents, the police and
the relevant ambulance service. All aircraft movements, telephone
conversations and radio calls are carefully recorded in the emergency
alarm report. As soon as the Rega physician has informed it of
his diagnosis, the Operations Centre advises the appropriate hospital.
After landing, if there is no other mission awaiting them, the
crew fly back to the base. There the helicopter is refuelled and
the medical and technical equipment checked and serviced. |
| |
| After the mission, the data is entered
into the computer and forwarded together with the emergency alarm
report to the mission invoicing department. Here any last administrative
details are clarified and an invoice for the cost of the mission
is sent to the patient. If the patient is a Rega patron, any amount
not covered by his private insurance is written off by Rega. |
